On Wednesday, I got the opportunity to interview Mr.Lubin. Mr.Lubin is the new 7th-grade english teacher. Based on my own opinion I thought he was a very nice guy. I asked Mr.Lubin a series of questions about himself.
What is your full name?
"Micheal Christopher Lubin"
How old are you?
"26"
Which schools did you graduate from?
"I graduated from Auburn High School, and Assumption College."
What are some of your hobbies?
" Oh, Uh hobbies.. I like sports. When I was growing up I played football, hockey, baseball. I currently coach hockey. I'm actually going there in an hour to play our first game tonight. So hockey is something I like to do. Music, I really enjoy music, a couple years ago my cousin was in a local band that was pretty popular, so that kinda dragged my attention in. I really like to listen to a lot of different music and I really like to collect it, I have a house full of CD's and vinyl, so that has always been something interesting. But really sports and music are kinda my passions."
If you could change jobs when you're older and do something different what would you do?
" What I'll do? Uh.. probably still teach. Teaching is something I like to do. I love to do it. Honestly just teaching and coaching. That's what I set out to do and that's what I'm doing.
What do you think is a defining characteristic about yourself?
" I would say hard working. I like to stay busy. I think with coaching hockey and teaching it keeps me busy. When I go home I have something to do, I always have something to improve at. I can always improve as a teacher and improve as a coach. You know I like to show that I can improve and that I can work hard. I like to advance myself in those areas."
What is your favorite color?
"Blue."
Do you have a favorite TV show or TV shows?
" TV shows.. hmm. The Office, when it was on was one of my favorites. Although I never got to see the finale. I have been meaning to get around to it. So the office is definitely one. I also watched Lost for a while. I kinda got lost in Lost. I didn't finish that one either because it just got too out of hand. There's gonna be one when you leave that's gonna come to me. There's also a lot of shows I have been meaning to get into. I don't have an HBO account, but I have heard a lot of good things about those. Things like True Detective, also Game of thrones is one I have been meaning to get into. I will see them at some point."
What's your favorite movie?
" Hmm.... favorite movie.. I do love watching movies. So I gotta think. I like Quentin Tarantino movies, so probably Pulp Fiction is my favorite."
What is your favorite subject?
" English."
What made you want to become an english teacher?
" I guess growing up I have always been in sports. I guess you know I have always been on teams. I think sports and teaching are very similar in terms of having leadership qualities. Other than that my mom was definitely a motivator. She would always be in my ear in college, when I was still trying to figure out what was going on. She always encouraged me teach, she thought I would be good at it. You know I worked at camps in high school and college. That was my summer job. I enjoyed doing it. You know I think if it's something you enjoy then you should definitely do that. I'm definitely happy with my decision of becoming a teacher. I enjoyed coming into work today, I enjoy coming into work every day, and I enjoy coaching. I have friends who can't stand what they do. I'm definitely glad I do what I do."
Who are some of your role models?
" I would say, definitely my mother. The way she works; as hard as she does. I have seen her get her nursing MSA over the course of two years, it's inspirational. She's someone to admire; and a great hero to have. I have had some other family members and coaches in the past also. So I have had a lot of great heroes in my life."
What do you think of Quaboag so far?
- " I like it. It's a great school. Everyone has been very welcoming. The seventh-grade team has been great, the english department has been great. The kids are awesome. The principals are great. So from top to bottom, I really enjoy it."
What interests you?
"Hmm.. I don't know. Is this supposed to be a deep question? I think I have already kind of summed up what interests me. Sports, teaching, coaching, music. All and all that's what interests me. I thought you were trying to get deep, but I suppose not.
What's your favorite animal?
"Well I have a pet golden retriever, so probably a golden retriever."
Is there any additional information that you would like to add about yourself?
" I'm not sure. I feel like we summed up everything."
