Patriots, Colts Championship Game
After defeating the Baltimore Ravens 35-31 last Sunday, the Patriots look to continue winning in the postseason to potentially head to the Super Bowl this week. The Patriots are facing the Colts who have been on a roll the past few weeks. The Patriots ran the ball down the Colts throats the last time these two teams met back in Week 11, running for over 200 yards with Jonas Gray. However, Tom Brady struggled in Week 11 against the Colts throwing 2 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Brady will be looking to redeem himself at Gillette Stadium this Sunday. If the Pats win, they will travel to Arizona for the Super Bowl against either the Green Bay Packers or Seattle Seahawks.
Can Cowboys Keep Murray and Bryant?
The Dallas Cowboys started their season in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers where they lost, 28-17. Dez Bryant caught 4 passes for 55 yards while Demarco Murray carried the ball 22 times for 118 yards averaging 5.4 yards a carry. Despite the loss, both players made a bold start to the season. The cowboys didn’t fall behind for long when they continued a 6-game winning streak afterwards. Dallas went on to beat the defending champs, Seattle, in Week 6. Murray put up another 115 yards while Bryant caught 4 passes totaling 63 yards against a tough Seattle secondary.
Demarco Murray continued to have at least a 100-yard rushing game throughout week 9 ranking best among running backs. Who stopped his 9 game streak? The Arizona cardinals held Murray to just 79 yards in a tough home game.
The Dallas Cowboys continued the season by going 12-4 to take the #3 seed behind Seattle (1) and Green Bay (2) into the playoffs. The cowboys faced a nasty Detroit Lion defense in a Wild-Card matchup two weeks ago. Despite a slow start, the cowboys finished the game with a crucial victory. Murray ran for 75 yards averaging 3.9 yards a carry while Bryant had 48 yards along with a fumble.
The cowboys went on to face the Green Bay Packers; a 15 degree Ice Bowl in a divisional round playoff game. The Cowboys led at halftime 14-10 but couldn’t hold on as Green Bay won in the final minutes with a controversy 4th and 2 Dez Bryant catch. The Cowboys traveled back home to Dallas in a disappointing loss and had to start thinking free agency. With Bryant and Murray up as a free agent, it questioned many fans about who is coming back. The cowboys recently offered Murray a 4-Million dollar deal but he denied. Jerry Jones (owner) told reporters that it will not be an easy task to keep both, but they are working their hardest. Jerry Jones announced that “Clearly, Bryant is our top priority, with the franchise tag as an option if necessary.”
